Any acoustic guitar players here ?!?!!?  Grin I would love to try to replicate Blue Star by Takayo  Takayo.

well, i have an electric, but i gave it go anyway  Grin

i watched the video on yt and i think i figured out the 4 main chords.  starting at about 3:31 there's one of several good close up shots of  Takayo on guitar.  i think you'll see the 4 chords in this order:

C    G      Am       F
shin ji tsu zu ke    yo u

G  C    G    Am       F
oh blue star forever

C
x32010
seems to use standard fingering

G
3200xx
like a standard G chord, but don't bother with your ring and pinky fingers on the highest 2 strings

Am
x02230
seems to be standard fingering

F
133211
seems to use standard barre chord fingering, but you could get away with not using the highest 2 strings

Well, remember figuring out the chords is not the same thing as actually being able to play them!  Embarrassed I can transition OK among power chords that all use the same basic hand shape, but when I try to switch around among other more difficult chords, it starts to sound really bad and sloppy  Crazy

What the current status on HANABI?   Will it be finished in time to be a special April 1st anniversary post?  I'll be on a spring break from school for 2 weeks before then.  I'm hoping to have  Miyu's "With U" playable by then.  I just don't have much time to practice these days, and I still can't figure out the fret buzz on my guitar.  I've tried replacing the strings and adjusting the action, but it's still there  80

I did and they must have thought I was a complete idiot!  Turns out the guitar was fine, but basically, I was just strumming it too hard.  I've never taken a lesson - how would I know?   Big Grin

But, since the guitar was fine, I pushed ahead with trying to get something ready for April 1st.  This is still pretty rough, but I wanted to post it before ZONE Memorial Day.  Thank goodness distortion can (partially) cover up sloppy electric guitar playing!  Video and tab are below.  Cut and paste the tab into COURIER FONT to get everything to line up right.  Hope you all have a chance this week to watch Final Live or celebrate ZONE in your own special way.

For Tomorrow in Bm (I think...)
Tuning: half step down, but this is not necessary.  To play in standard tuning subtract 1 from each of the fret numbers.

Main chords used: I am listing the full barre chords, which when done right will give the richest sound.  However, if you are of limited ability like me, you can just power chord your way through the whole thing using only the lowest 3 notes.  This is especially convenient if you are playing along with the final live version.  The studio/album version of For Tomorrow is just over 4 minutes long, but the girls play it so fast live that they finish in about 3:22!  Also, depending on where you are in the song, sometimes it actually sounds better using only 3 notes.

244322 F
x46664 C
x79997 Em
x24442 or 799877 Bm
x24432 or xx443x B flat minor
I actually feel like I get a better sound that matches the song with the incomplete chord shown second.
I also thought B flat and B minor were the same thing, but according to my chord chart, this chord is called B flat minor.  Just demonstrates my lack of musical theory/knowledge I guess...  Embarrassed

Yeah, that's the same Squier HSS strat I've always had.  The guitar and a decent practice amp cost me $350 back around Christmas of 2008.  If I wanted a real Fender, I'd have to pay double that, and that would be just for the guitar, no amp!

Someday, if I ever get around to taking proper lessons and actually get better, I think it would be cool to have a '72 Telecaster Thinline in natural like  Miyu used   Love  For my current level of playing though, I can't really justify the expense  Tongue

oh man the Tabs for H.A.N.A.B.I. didn't make it..ARGHH!!..sorry guys..i'll try to get it up and running this May 20..Miyu's B-day..i'm very sorry.."bows head in failure"

Hi folks !!!
I just found a score book for " E - Complete A Sides" on EBAY. I saw it and was estatic. I went to buy it w/o hesitation.
I.............I.............I............TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY NINE DOLLARS !!!!!!   Crying      Crying      Crying
I was speechless. I froze and my heart didn't beat for 5 seconds.   Broken Heart

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260512033197&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

There it is, like the hope diamond.... beautiful, inviting and  untouchable!!!
If anybody can afford it, go for it.

I just bought 3 used Zone albums...E, URA E, Z for 55$ And ZONE Clips 1 from Rakuten..(the Japanese Amazon?),
I'm now a member even though I don't read a word a word of Katana. I paid 10.80$ (DVD) plus 5% (.54$International handling) and 12.$ S/H. Total 23.34, a
good buy. I got the total from my bank statement and found out the S/H by subtracting the other 2 charges. Hey, I trusted them to be honest and fair, they
trusted me to be honest with them. Their site is mostly in English now but some things aren't yet, they say it will be in future. Bottom line, I used a
Japanese Operating System to navigate around the Japanese cyber world and have now become an official Japanese customer on their sites, too cool.

Later guys, just bought a car today, White Sebring Convertible  with all the toys, I'm lovin life.    Cool

Wait till you have to fill out the membership form, it's 80% in Katana.

 Big Grin

This made me imagine a Japanese Sesame Street segment, where first they show and say the word "katakana."  Then this cartoon samurai comes by, looks thoughtfully at the word, pulls out his sword and slices away the 2nd "ka," leaving behind the new word "katana."

OK maybe it was a lot funnier in my head  Embarrassed

In any case, great ebay find!  Is this the first known sighting of that music book being sold in US dollars?  If you are interested in not just the music, but also the instruments and accessories that each girl used, the book is definitely worth it.

Hi ZONEFANS, I found that score book again, this time for about 35$ plus s/h. The problem, it's on a Japanese Book sellers website.
It's also on Amazon.com/jp for about 160$ +s/h.
This is the 'band score book~Zone~Complete A sides'. 255pages
If someone can translate enough, I might buy one. Depends I guess on being able to communicate w/ the seller. When I get some time
I'm going to run these through a translator program but for now I'm going to just post the sites. Good luck everyone. I hope someone will
actually get something out my little posts.

Again, good luck everyone.

hey kensolar,

sorry to burst your bubble on the $35 one, but this phrase:

入手不可のため注文できません

i think means that it is out of stock.  "不可" in chinese means not permitted or not able, and "できません" in japanese is -dekimasen, which is a suffix used for negation, such as when you are saying something like "i do not speak japanese."  i think it's pretty much impossible these days to get the book at the original list price of 3150Y.

still, even if you get it for $160, that still beats what i shelled out for it!  the amazon link is essentially the same way i found my copy.  some links are from bookstores with physical addresses that you can go to, some are online only.  either way, you probably need somebody in japan to order it for you, or go get it for you.  unless you can figure out the international shipping rules.  or go there in person.  or get thefrustrated to get it for you when he's over there later this year Smiley

You guys are getting ripped off badly on the scorebooks. I got the E complete A side singles for around 9000¥ (approx. $103) which I think is the average going price on the web. I thought that was too much but it was worth it.
