Takayo's Sandy Beach/My Best Friends
« on: February 21, 2009, 02:08:54 am »

I've uploaded all of the songs from Takayo's Sandy Beach and My Best Friends onto imeem, if anybody's interested. I'm not sure if you guys have heard her earlier music before or not...or even the music from My Best Friends, so I thought that it would be a good idea to upload that...the legal way! Smiley It's lame how it's next to impossible to even preview her songs. But here's your chance! I have to say that her music is quite nice, really. Even though her solo career wasn't really a success...her music was.

Wow, thanks so much for posting these hard to find songs!  I had only heard 1 or 2 of them before.  It is too bad Takayo's music career didn't take off.  I think the problem is that she's best at the type of music that isn't memorable until you hear it done poorly by someone else.  Only then can you appreciate her technical skill and perfect pitch and control.  Her songs aren't the type that a non-talented singer could gloss over with power, or speed, or a carefully constructed public personality.  When I listened to the Sandy Beach songs, I was transported to... a sandy beach!  It was like I was at some little outdoor shack on the beach selling simple seafood and drinks.  I was enjoying conversation with friends while sipping a margarita, or some sort of mango drink with an umbrella in it, and there was this amazing singer there providing the perfect background music to fit the mellow, relaxing mood.  The sun gradually went down, and we just continued to enjoy the atmosphere and music as the restaurant staff lit torches.

Her blog is down now right?  I hope she at least has a small but loyal group of fans who follow her around Sapporo from one small venue to the next.  Is she even performing now?

Oh, BTW, for people like me who don't have an imeem account, use this shortened link to get to TheFrustrated's page.  You can't use playlists, but you can play one song at a time.

Frustrated - what's the status on your imeem account?  Everything was somehow merged with myspace right?  Is it still possible for non-members to listen to the Takayo music that you posted?

I'm not sure. I was shocked when I heard that imeem was taken down and merging with myspace. I think that they are still in the process of merging. This is from wiki:

Myspace recently assured imeem.com users that their playlists are safe and that they are currently duplicating every users' playlist and will migrate them on to Myspace Music as soon as possible.[63] Myspace assured that features and functionality that users were used to at imeem will soon find their way onto MySpace, and compliment the existing platform alongside free full-song streaming, artist profiles, music videos, and more.[64] Myspace will email imeem users the instructions on how to claim their playlists.[65] On January 15, 2010, Myspace began restoring imeem playlists.[66]

Hopefully soon! I can't wait.

UPDATE* Lame! I tried to access my songs but the only ones that were saved were pretty much just the American songs that I had. I'll try again later but I think that I lost it all. In which case, I'll try to figure out another way to let people listen to Takayo.

Anyone know of a website similar to imeem?
